Today’s walking tour was a very spiritual experience for me and I began to see St. Jeanne’s life as it was years ago.  I saw where she was baptized, learning of her religious struggles in her family.  I walked the streets where she had walked, finding it hard to believe since it was so long ago.  Our group then visited the house of her uncle, Michael de Montaigne, the famous French philosopher.  When we walked 5 minutes away to St. Jeanne’s house, I could envision her as a girl walking back and fourth between residences.  We then visited the Church St. Eloy where she was married.  The church was located just across the street outside the large entrance wall to the city.  Can you imagine Jeanne Leaving her house in her wedding gown and led perhaps by horse and buggy to the church.  I have been amazed at how recognized St. Jeanne de Lestonnac is in Bordeaux, France.  I never realized the enormity of her impact in the world and now, very importantly, in my life and spiritual growth.  I look forward to the days to come in learning more.  Lastly, I wanted to share that the lay people here from all over the world have been so kind.  Although there are some language barriers, there is a special bond and spiritual connection between us all that seems to get stronger each day we are together.  We are all learning and growing together in our spiritual journey.

Supone para todos los que estamos aquí una gran alegría darnos cuenta de lo mucho que se ha hecho en la Red Laical y el camino que se ha recorrido en un tiempo tan reducido. Por otra parte, llama la atención que, viviendo y trabajando en contextos tan diferenciados, coincidamos en aspectos tan básicos y fundamentales relacionados con el seguimiento de Jesús, nuestro Señor y con el carisma, espiritualidad y proyecto educativo de la Compañía. Un abrazo a todas las personas a las que de una forma directa o indirecta representamos y con las que convivimos en la “confianza fundamental”.
